The Bulletin

I cannot promise that I’ll resolve to exercise more, because that would give me less time in the gym to play with my phone. So, that’s out.

Saving money is great. I like doing that. I have always stretched the life of my cars to extinction and beyond. Making smart financial decisions when you’re young will be rewarding in your later years. It has worked for me very well.

Remembering peoples’ names when I first meet them will be a challenge, but I’ll try. I usually forget the name as soon as it is uttered. I’ve never had a good memory when it comes to names. That’s the job of Sharon Toth, The Bulletin’s names editor.

Eating healthier is a great goal that I strive for, sometimes missing it by a lot. Sharon, the Bulletin’s food editor, has tried to guide me to a healthier diet and has made it very difficult for me to consume red meat, which is actually a good thing. I do cheat occasionally, and she has given up trying to stop me.

I cannot resolve to drink less, because I have not drank an alcoholic beverage in countless years. When we cruise, I can always tell who bought the drink package and met their 15-drink limit. They talk and walk differently. Alcohol slows me down, and many years ago I decided that it just wasn’t worth it. But if you’re a heavy drinker, this may be a good resolution to make.

I have tried several times to learn how to play the guitar, but such no luck. I gave it up way before Jan. 9. I am not cut out to be any sort of a musician, and I admire people who have mastered a musical instrument.

I could promise to smell the roses and work less, but that resolution would be broken the same day, as I’d sneak away to my office and work on The Bulletin. The paper is my rose, and it smells like fresh ink. I intend to smell it for many more years.
